Townships are a must to decongest Bangalore

Townships are a must to decongest Bangalore
Readers feel that free infrastructure and easy connectivity are the main ingredients

Good infrastructure facilities
It’s only when a satellite town has all the trappings of a big city that it can attract people to relocate. It has to be self-sufficient in all respects. Good infrastructure facilities, both for industry and human settlement, are a must. Besides basic needs like water, power, housing and good roads, it should have good education and health facilities too. Entertainment and recreational facilities along with easy connectivity to the city are a must. All these have to be packaged well to lure people to settle there. In short, a satellite town should be a miniature city. I USHA G RAO
Two basic needs to be fulfilled for successful and speedy development of satellite towns are: (i) mass rapid transport system and (ii) extension counters of all governmental agencies and statutory bodies with online transaction facilities.I D S MANJUNATHA
Bangalore needs more satellite towns but just forming satellite towns will not help. They should be provided with all basic amenities, including entertainment and recreational facilities, adequate water supply, proper drainage systems, wide roads, transport facilities and business centres. Only then will people be encouraged to move to satellite towns which would ease the burden of traffic congestion on Bangalore. I SUDHAVYAS SUDHARSHAN
Satellite towns should be provided with good connectivity, availability of power, water and with all civic amenities so that people need not turn to the city. All small-scale industries may be shifted to satellite towns.I M N KESARI
Bascially, provide easy public transportation to the nearest cities, airports, railway stations. Ensure self-sufficiency in water, electricity, instead of depending on already existing resources. Use only infertile land, not ones already used for farming. Last, but not the least, make these townships eco-friendly. I PADMANBAHAN
Development of satellite towns would go a long way in helping Bangalore. With good infrastructure, Bangalore’s problem of congestion could be solved. But legal hurdles should not be given any chance to delay them. As such, satellite towns are needed more than acquisition of lands for house sites. I N B VISHWANATH
Take stock of available manpower, cost to be incurred for development of infrastructure for a judicially economical location. I VSN
In a satellite town, IT/BT units should be established to provide job opportunities along with hospitals, schools, housing and marketing complexes so that people do not have to move to the city I VIMALA KESARI
Infrastructure like good approach roads, rail and road connections, frequent transport at low cost, water, commercial and shopping complexes will encourage people and business establishments to move towards a satellite town. By the growth of satellite towns, infrastructure constraints in Bangalore city and elsewhere can be avoided.
I N S NAGARAJ
Govt should give tax benefits
The encouragement for a satellite town must not only exist on paper but strict measures have to be taken to implement it. These towns must contain commercial, residential spaces with education and entertainment facilities. This will generate employment opportunities. Improved infrastructure and good connectivity in these townships will make industries migrate to such
areas. Government must also think of giving tax benefits to industries established in these towns. I TARUN K JAIN
Strong political will is a must
Bangalore is already over-crowded and the city is not ready to take anymore. Enough is enough. It is high time to look beyond Bangalore. Strong political will is a must. Free infrastructure and easy connectivity are the main ingredients. All new ventures both residential and commercial should compulsorily be allowed to come up in new satellite towns. Even existing establishments in Bangalore can be shifted. Expert planning must encourage the growth of satellite towns so that Bangalore goes ‘dil mangey more satellite towns’. I MANJUNATH
Bangalore has been virtually saturated with high-rise buildings without basic civic amenities. The government must have a will to develop satellite towns with good connectivity for establishing small-scale industries with employment potential. Normally, a new city is born where there is ample power and water supply and a multi-faceted cultural approach for a peaceful life. In this aspect, the government should disperse departments which have no relevance to be in Bangalore like forests, water resources, fisheries etc. I A S RAJ
Set up industries outside city
Bangalore, in spite of becoming Greater Bangalore, has been overcrowded by human, vehicular, and commercial population. To decongest it, and so that we can breathe fresh air, the only way is to start new townships outside the city with all modern facilities like good roads, transport, educational institutions, hospitals, etc. Industrialists must also start their new units outside the city. No doubt, it is a time-consuming factor, but still one has to remember that ‘Rome was not built in a day.’ I T A SUKUMARAN
Township must be away from city
Locate townships at a distance of at least 50 km. Develop transportation, communication, basic amenities for living conditions, as well as industrialisation with recreation amenities for a healthy and speedy growth.I D R PRAKASH
Modify rules
Modify rules especially regarding the payment of compensation for acquisition of lands by fixing the rates at par with the market and ensure payments immediately. Develop infrastructure for the township on a war footing.
I D P N SINDESH
Bangalore has reached saturation point. Bangalore has gone beyond its borders to set up townships to contain the unprecedented rise in population from our neighbouring states in search of jobs and it has not become possible to accommodate the ever-increasing populationk. Though the government is not sleeping over the matter of setting up of more townships, it has become not possible to have more townships. The setting up of more townships is in the court of the present government.
I B S RAGHAVENDRA RAO
Requires good connectivity
Build infrastructure and connectivity to attract business and industry in satellite towns so that reverse migration takes place. Government should move some of its offices to satellite towns. I T VIDYADHAR
