The Story so far...
Here is an update on the progress of the "Namma Metro" project up to June 2008:

Land / Rehabilitation

The Government has notified all the stretches for the project. A rehabilitation package has been offered to land losers. Majority of them have agreed to accept the package. In all, the compensation has been offered to 95 owners.

Land owners in Reach 1 have started surrendering their property. By the end of June 2008, the process is expected to start for Reach 2. For Reach -3, the deadline set is the end of July 2008.

Building Condition Survey:
The Building Condition Survey for Reach 1 and 2 has been completed. Out of the 140 buildings identified, the reports for 40 have been received. The remaining reports are expected soon, according to BMRCL officials.

Demolition of Buildings:
The contract has been awarded for demolition of buildings in Reach 1. Work has already been taken up. For Reach 2, the agency for demolition will be finalised in June.

For Reach 3 and Reach 4, the agencies will be finalised by the end of July 2008 and end of August 2008 respectively.
