Incomplete works haunt N R Road

Incomplete works haunt N R Road
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Damaged and congested roads are something Bangloreans have learnt to endure — and N R Road will surely test their patience.
This road is in a mess with the authorities taking up many civil works in the area. The works have not only resulted in traffic jams but have alienated shops from easy access.
Vehicles can only ply on a narrow portion of N R Road because the authorities have dug up the rest of the area.
Work in the area has been slow. Adding to this problem are the buses that stop frequently in the narrow stretch, causing traffic jam. During peak hours, it takes 45 minutes to travel a mere half kilometre. The construction works have reduced the width of this road to one-fourth of its original width, due to which traffic has turned into a mess. Businesses have been hit too.
A shopkeeper said the place has been in this terrible condition for around 15 days. “Who knows how long they will take to complete this work?” He asked.
He said he has no hope of seeing the construction work completed early. Customers are unable to access his shop because the ground nearby has been dug up.
Most shops have huge stones and deep pits in their doorsteps, making it hard for customers to access the shops.
