Bangalore: The Vayu Vajra service introduced by the BMTC to ferry passengers to BIA has got a good response. From Friday night itself, passengers made use of the hi-tech Volvo service. The 31-seater bus with a lot of luggage space carried 128 passengers from BIA to Bangalore after the inaugural flight landed on Saturday morning.
BMTC chief traffic manager Dastagir Sheriff said a lot of passengers alighting at the new airport are using the bus service to reach the city. On Saturday alone till 5 pm, 344 people used the service. “The response is overwhelming; 500 passengers used our service within 24 hours of the new airport’s inauguration. This is really encouraging. Almost all Volvo buses are running full. In the coming days, we expect more demand for these buses,” Sheriff added.
BMTC has deployed 40 Volvo buses and 116 Suvarna Sarige buses though the Volvo service is more in demand.
