Rain brings respite from heat

Bangalore: Sudden showers on Monday evening brought some welcome respite from the heat for Bangaloreans. At the same time, it forced people to scurry for shelter.
Pleasant weather prevailed after the showers. This was especially welcomed by residents of East Bangalore, who have been suffering regular power cuts for the past few days.
These pre-monsoon showers are an indication that the monsoon is likely to set in early in the state.
According to the weatherman, the city will see rain or thunder showers for the next two days due to the upper air cyclonic circulation over the east Arabian Sea coast of Karnataka. Rain or thunder showers is likely at a few places in coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka.
The city has been reeling under a heat spell for the past few days. Even on Monday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.1 degree celsius, with 41 per cent humidity.
This year, there may be an early onset of monsoon in the state. It is likely to set in by June 3. Normally, the monsoon season begins from June 5. The city recorded a rainfall of 0.1 mm while airport recorded a rainfall of 8.6 mm.
The BBMP control room did not receive any complaints.
Some parts of the city like Bismillanagar and Koramangala and surrounding areas experienced intermittent power cuts due to an auto trip following the sudden showers.
