Ulsoor Lake has become a cesspool, say residents
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: The beautiful Ulsoor Lake is no longer a picture of serenity, pure air and peaceful strolls. This has been replaced by stench, weeds and algae, thanks to the effluents that flow into it. The state of affairs is so bad that residents no longer go on morning walks here. A protest by the Bharathinagar Residents’ Forum and several walkers early on Wednesday morning highlighted these issues.
Forum president N S Ravi said the stench pervaded for a kilometre around the lake. Mosquitoes are another matter of concern. Despite having been desilted recently, the lake is a mess.
The residents will submit a memorandum to governor Rameshwar Thakur, requesting him to direct the BBMP commissioner to clean the lake. The protesters urged the authorities to act immediately to restore Ulsoor Lake to its pristine state.
