New system to park your woes

New system to park your woes
DH News Service, Bangalore:
In the space where eleven cars used to park in the Municipal Corporation in Mumbai, 240 cars are parked today, thanks to an automatic parking system designed by an international parking concern...

This hydraulically operated car parking system occupies less space, makes no noise, and has made a huge impact world over and in major Indian cities, including Bangalore.

Delivering a lecture on the advantages of this parking system at the Institute of Engineers on Wednesday, Girish Vyas, Managing Director of Wohr Parking Systems Pvt Ltd, a joint venture of Otto Wohr GmbH, Germany and Vyas Group, India, said that the system was very user-friendly.

“All one has to do on reaching the place is to press a button. The system automatically takes it to an empty space in the parking lot. When the car is required, the button has to be pressed again,” he said. Power is required only for lifting it up and not when coming down, he added. “The procedure is completed within 40 seconds and requires a mere 1.5 kilowatts of power. Using it four times a day results in an annual electricity bill of Rs 54.”

In the case of residences where there is a numbered parking space, the system is designed in such a way that the car is taken to the particular space whose number is keyed in.

In Bangalore, the group has already installed such lifts in IT buildings and plans to introduce them in malls later.

Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Kochi are other cities were such lifts are in use. Members of Wohr Parking met BBMP’s Special Commissioner (Projects) K R Srinivasan and other top officials to present the features of the system. New system to park your woes
