Formed after the merger of the CMC with a cluster of villages and suburbs following the delimitation of constituencies, Mahadevapura is home to the Electronic City and IT Park, and houses most of the Citys software companies.

The erstwhile Mahadevapura City Municipal Council (CMC) is not only a part of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), but is also a Reserved Assembly Constituency.

Formed after the merger of the CMC with a cluster of villages and suburbs following the delimitation of constituencies, Mahadevapura is home to the Electronic City and IT Park, and houses most of the City’s software companies.

Over the years, huge villas and apartment blocks have mushroomed here. But the area is neglected by civic authorities. Even after a year of its inclusion in the BBMP limits, residents continue to be deprived of basic amenities. Water is a scarce commodity here, and people are forced to buy tanker water.

Potholed roads, lack of a proper underground drainage system, and street lights have made life difficult for people of this new constituency, earlier part of Varthur constituency.

With the area, which was governed by the Congress before its merger with the BBMP, being marked as a reserved constituency, the BJP has chosen Arvind Limbavalli to contest from here. The Congress and JD(S) are yet to announce their lists. More than 54 aspirants are vying for ticket to contest from this area - including former Mayor M Narayanswamy, former CMC member Sujata Nagesh, Chaluwadi Narayanswamy, A Muniyappa, Arsith Gandhi, S R Sujatha and B Muniraju.

RAJARAJESHWARINAGAR
Total voters: 2.97 lakh
Men: 1.58 lakh
Women: 1.39 lakh
Areas: Sunkadakatte, Malathahalli, Nagarabhavi, Bangalore University, most wards of erstwhile Rajarajeshwarinagar, Peenya Dasarahalli and Pattanagere CMCs

This is another new constituency, formed after the merger of the erstwhile Rajarajeshwarinagar City Municipal Council (CMC) with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.

Following the delimitation of Assembly constituencies and reorganisation of areas, most areas that were under the Malleswaram constituency - including HMT Layout, Jalahalli, Yeshwanthpur and Peenya Industrial Area - have been clubbed with the Rajarajeshwarinagar constituency.

This area is home to the Jnana Bharathi campus of Bangalore University, industrial areas, various housing societies and employees’ layouts. Like any other newly added area, this constituency too lacks basic civic amenities, and it has been a continuous struggle for residents here.

The Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) have enjoyed equal popularity in this area for the last ten years.
Prominent aspirants for a ticket from this constituency are educationist Dr Hemachandra Sagar, former member of Rajarajeshwarinagar CMC - G H Ramachandra, party worker M P Padmanabha of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
While Venkateshmurthy is trying for a JD(S) ticket, D Muniraju, Hanumanthrayappa and M Rajkumar are some of the aspirants from the Congress.
