Traffic may be thrown out of gear today
DH News Service,Bangalore:
Motorists beware. You could be caught in massive traffic jams on Saturday, once AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi makes his way to the KPCC office on Queens Road to interact with the partys office-bearers of various wings.

Thousands of Congress activists are likely to converge on the KPCC office, much after the massive convention scheduled to kick off at the APMC Ground in Hebbal around noon. Here’s more reason why Queen’s Road and several other roads leading to it could turn chaotic: The City police have not announced any traffic diversions on the roads in the City centre.

As KPCC general secretary V S Ugrappa put it, over two lakh Youth Congress and NSUI activists from across the country are expected to participate in the convention. Besides jamming the busy Bellary road, its cascading effects could be felt in different parts of the City centre.

But the police are only likely to ban movement of heavy vehicles on Saturday afternoon from BEL Circle to Yelahanka, for the convention at Hebbal.

“If required, the movement of heavy vehicles from BEL Circle to Yelahanka will be banned for some time. The police have identified alighting points for buses and maxicabs ferrying people for attending the function near GKVK in Hebbal. Parking for buses and maxicabs has been provided on the GKVK campus. For those coming by cars and bikes, parking facility has been provided near the venue,” DCP (West Traffic) Panduranga H Rane said. Traffic on routes Rahul Gandhi would be taking may be blocked for five to ten minutes, he said.
