Bangalore: The administration has responded to criticism over connectivity to the new airport. The trumpet interchange road, which provides easier access to the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA), will be thrown open on Friday.
The opening of this road will enable an easy ride to the airport terminal from NH-7. However, it will not be formally inaugurated.
The trumpet interchange is a road overbridge on NH-7 near the BIA. The blueprint consists of three loops. One loop connects the road leading to the BIA terminal from Bangalore city, another connects the road from Devanahalli (Hyderabad Road) to BIA and the third connects BIA to Bangalore city. Each loop is exactly 5 km from the terminal.
Rain stalled the infrastructure department’s plan to open the interchange road from Bangalore city to BIA on Thursday. It will now be done on Friday after completion of some asphalting works.
However, the loop connecting Devanahalli to BIA will take a few more weeks to get completed. Work on this loop was delayed due to the HC’s stay order, which was vacated recently.
The loop connecting BIA to Bangalore city is in the final stages.
