Steady drizzle rains woes
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The steady drizzle intensified in sporadic bursts...

It rained incessantly in the City on Wednesday, disrupting normal life. Traffic wound its way at a snail’s pace, leaving commuters stuck for hours on end on many busy roads through the day.

The steady drizzle intensified in sporadic bursts. The mercury dipped further with the maximum temperature dropping nearly six degrees below the normal 26 degree Celsius. But the minimum temperature was 2.1 points above the normal 16 degree Celsius.

Wednesday’s minimum temperature at 17.9 degree Celsius was above Tuesday’s 18.1 degree Celsius. But the maximum temperature decreased from 22.1 degree celsius to 20.3 degree celsius.

To continue

Intermittent rain is likely to continue for the next 24 hours in Bangalore City.

According to an officer at the Meteorological Department, a trough of low pressure formed at sea level over Gulf of Mannar and an upper cyclonic circulation of wind in an anti-clockwise direction, brought rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South-Interior Karnataka on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the maximum wind speed of 46 km per hour in the north-easterly direction blew away the clouds, lessening the intensity of rain. On Wednesday, the maximum wind speed dropped to 30 kmph, resulting in the increased rain, he explained.

Rain is likely at many places in South Interior Karnataka, a few places of coastal Karnataka and isolated places over North Interior Karnataka in the next 24 hours, he said. The rain is likely to decrease thereafter.
