BANGALORE: Though the traders on CMH Road are up in arms against the Bangalore Metro rail project, the project schedule is unlikely to be de-railed.

Acquisition of land on the CMH road is very important for the project as the ‘Reach One’ of the project from Cubbon Road to Byappanhalli has to pass through CMH road. The CMH Road Traders Association, which represents the traders on the busy road has been asking the authorities to change the alignment of the project.

The association has even approached the High Court seeking the court’s direction to the government to change the route alignment. The case is pending before the court.

The BMRCL authorities, however, are confident that opposition from the CMH Road traders will not affect the project as there is no ban on continuing with the work now.

“The Shivashankar Bhat Committee had examined the CMH Road alignment in 2002 and confirmed that it was apt for the route alignment. Actual works of the via-ducts on the East-West corridor is scheduled to begin in April’’ the official stated.
