BANGALORE: In view of delay in the proceedings of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project Veerappa Moily, chairman, Adminstrative Reforms Commission(ARC) has urged the Governor Rameshwar Thakur to take immediate action to speed up the project.

Acquisition of private landstructures should be completed within the next two-three months and the recruitment of officers from Karnataka Industrial Association Development Board(KIADB) and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) should begin.

The state government should take pro-active interest in pursuing the litigation matter about the NGEF land issue in the HC or SC, the press release stated.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Project was started with the active support from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation( DMRC) and hence DMRC should be brought back as the prime consultants in the project to speed up the works within the stipulated time.

The release also stated that the State government should persuade the Ministry of Railways to send some of its engineers on deputation to BMRC and the BMRC should be given more authority to speed up the project. The steering committe under the Chief Secretary should be activised to address the issues arising out of project execution regularly.
