BANGALORE: Starting next month, the Bangalore Development Authority will come up with a series of new projects, said Governor Rameshwar Thakur.

Inaugurating the Ramamurthy Nagar underpass on Monday, he said that the BDA would come up with a new project every month, as well as complete the ongoing projects.

“This decision has been taken with the aim of improving infrastructure, which includes creating a chain of grade separators, flyovers, interchanges and underpasses,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, BDA Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda said that the railway overbridge at Marathahalli would be inaugurated next month. Projects like Magadi Road- West of Chord Road underpass and Outer Ring Road connecting Magadi Road and Mysore Road are also on schedule, he added.

The launch of one of the five proposed layouts will be announced during this period, he said.

New projects: The speciality of the Ramamurthy Nagar underpass is the ten-lane road, including three carriage ways and two service lanes on either side.

This will be replicated to the two new BDA grade separators- one at Iblur, near Sarjapura Road at a cost of Rs 19 crore, and another at Agrahara Junction at a cost of Rs 38 crore, near HSR Layout, said Gowda.

This is to ease traffic on Sarjapura Road and Outer Ring Road, as the number of vehicles in the City is increasing twofold every year.

“The project has been approved by the government and tenders have been called for. We aim to complete the projects within 18 months,” he added
