Project update: BETL

HOSUR ROAD EXPRESSWAY 7 MONTHS TO GO
Delay due to rain, land acquisition

There have been some time slippages on the Hosur Road expressway construction, partly on account of the rain and land acquisition. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) says its contractors — Soma Enterprise, Maytas Infra and Nagarjuna Construction — are trying to mobilize more resources in a bid to complete the project on time. The indication right now is that the project may slightly overshoot the deadline of July 2008.
A NHAI official said acquisition of a piece of land in Bommanahalli on which a temple stands had created hurdles to doing the service road on that stretch. “But that is more or less sorted out now, and they have found an alternative location for the temple,” he said.
Most of the land required for the project in Electronic City was also recently acquired, and NHAI said the work related to shifting of utility lines there is almost complete.
The widening of the road between Electronic City and the Karnataka border (near Hosur) to six lanes is simultaneously on — the work started in May this year — and expected to be complete by July. This section too will become a toll road. STAGE OF WORK

Finishing work on pedestrian underpasses at Kudlu Junction and Singasandra Junction still on. Expected to be open to the public in January. Bommanahalli underpass about 10% complete and GB Palya underpass about 50% complete.
