Devanahalli airport gets 'deck'ed up
DH News Service, Bangalore:

With the Bangalore International Airport Limited set to commence basic trials at the upcoming airport in Devanahalli this month, the decks are getting cleared for the March 30, 2008 take-off.

The trials will be held in three stages — basic, advanced and integrated — and will conclude closer to the airport opening date.

The month of November also saw the commencement of the commissioning of equipment at the Air Traffic Control block.

After installation, the equipment/system will undergo a series of performance tests. The commissioning also continued at the runway, taxiway, passenger boarding bridges and the baggage handling system.

Internal glass partitions, handrails and the external Aluminium Panel Cladding (ACP) have been installed at the terminal building at the airport.

Construction of duty-free areas, cabling work at the CUTE (Common User Terminal Equipment) check-in counters and the installation of the public addressing system and CCTV cameras is on.

In progress
The construction of the main access road (from the airport till the trumpet interchange on NH 7) is also in progress.
