Visual treat for habba fans

Airtel Bengalooru Habba 2007, in association with Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology on Sunday threw open the much awaited 'Visual Arts Square' at the St George's Square at Cubbon Park.

Announcing this, Padmini Ravi of AFFA (Artists Foundation for the Arts) said, “The square provides an exciting experience for all art afficianados, amidst the lush green surroundings, with artists presenting contemporary and innovative art forms in an ‘Art for All’ platform”.

On display are innovative and a diverse array of interactive art stalls, showcasing unique forms of art works by various artists. The ‘arts square’ offers art works for all age groups.

Interactive stalls include Tiles and Mask making with Dwarkanath from Rangayana, Recycled Metals Art with Amaresh, Live Animation by Lloyd Roberts, Nature Speaks by Smitha Cariappa and ‘On the Spot Portraits’ by art students of Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology. Open from 11 am to 8 pm, the habba at the square is on till December 6.

CULTURE SHOW
The ‘Suvarna Samskriti Parampare’ - Bengalooru Habba -2007 took off to a resplendent start on Sunday at the Ravindra Kalakshetra.

The event was inaugurated by Governor Rameshwar Thakur even as troupes entertained the audience with performances of Dollu Kunita and Veeragase.

Padmashree Maya Rao, Bharatanatyam danseuse of international repute, later enthralled the audience with her performance as keertanas of Purandara Dasa rent the air.
