1,000 km of roads to keep city connected

Bangalore: The PWD, which has taken up development of 1,000 km of roads in Bangalore Urban, Rural and Tumkur districts, has finished work on 350 kms and aims to complete the rest by the year-end.
Secretary, PWD, Sudhir Krishna said though the project was envisaged in 2004 to provide high quality roads around Bangalore, the works only took off in mid-2006. “We have taken up the work on 46 key arterial roads at a cost of Rs 935.26 crore and 35% of the project is completed,’’ he said. The entire project will be completed by one year.
These are important arterial roads in and around Bangalore, linking IT and BT corridors, the upcoming international airport, several export-oriented industrial houses, textile mills and healthfood manufacturing units. COMPLETED ROADS
Airport to Kundalahalli Cross to SS Ashram; Bannerghatta Road from Outer Ring Road to Meenakshi Temple; Sarjapura from Outer Ring Road to railway bridge; Hoskote-Kadugodi-Anekal Road-Varthur Kodi to Anekal via Dommasandra, Sarjapura (SH) and Athibele NH-4; Hoskote-Kadugodi-Anekal Road to Chandapura-Dommasandra Road via Kodathi Kachamarahalli; Bannerghatta to Anekal Road (SH)
