When it rains, the residents of J P Nagar 5th Phase, are forced to park their vehicles at far away places because the roads in residential area are waterlogged. “We have wade through muddy water to reach our homes,” said Firoz.

Apart from this, the sewage water from the overflowing drains gets mixed with drinking water making it unfit for consumption. Rain water also gushes into houses when it pours heavily.

“When the residents approach BBMP officials for help, instead of listening to our problems, they mock at us and tell us to find a house in far flung areas,” he alleged.

The residents have pooled in money to make the roads fit for commuting and installed slabs on the open drains at dangerous points, for crossing.

“The civic authorities have only been promising but have done nothing to ease the situation,” said Firoz.JP Nagar residents' problems continue
