Only Kannada films in KSRTC buses

Only Kannada films in KSRTC buses
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has said it will ensure that only Kannada movies are screened in the premiere class buses that have a television facility. This comes in the wake of protests by Kannada activists that non-Kannada films were being screened in buses.
Though according to the original order, KSRTC buses were to screen only K a n n a d a movies in their buses, even if they were interstate routes, non-Kannada films too were being screened due to lack of monitoring. This irked the activists, who complained that local language films were not being screened in buses that plied even within the state.
Speaking to The Times of India, sources in the corporation said nearly 200 buses ran with the TV facility, while a third of them plied inter-state. “The objective is to promote Kannada films. The corporation has a selected list of entertaining films that have been distributed to the drivers,’’ said a spokesperson. However nonscreening of Kannada films does not officially call for punishments.
