Bangalore: The South Western Railways have announced three new trains from Bangalore to Chennai, Gorakhpur and Secunderabad. The trains will start service shortly.
However, there has been no move to start the Bangalore-Mangalore train even though the safety clearances have been issued in April second week.
The first is a weekly train from Yeshwantpur to Chennai — Number 2291/2292. The train will leave Yeshwantpur at 10.45 pm on Fridays and reach Chennai at 5.15 am on Saturdays. On its return journey, the train will leave Chennai at 11.30 pm on Saturdays and arrive Yeshwantpur at 6.15 am on Sundays.
The train will run via Krishnarajapuram, Bangarapet, Jolarpettai and Arakkonam.
The Railways have started a weekly train from Yeshwantpur to Gorakhpur. The train numbers 5015/5016 Gorakhpur-Yeshwantpur Weekly Express will leave Yeshwantpur at 7.30 am on Thursdays and arrive at Gorakhpur at 2.20 pm on Saturday. On its return journey, the train will leave from Gorakhpur at 6.30 am on Mondays and arrive at Yeshwantpur at 10 am on Wednesdays. The train will run via Hindupur, Dharmavaram, Guntakal, Secunderabad, Kazipet, Nagpur, Itarsi, Bhopal, Kanpur, Lucknow and reach Gorakhpur.
The other new train is Secunderabad-Yeshwantpur Garib Rath — train numbers 2735/2736 tri-weekly Express. The train will start from Secunderabad at 7.15 pm on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and arrive at Yeshwantpur at 7.05 am the next day. On its return journey to Secunderabad, the train will leave Yeshwantpur at 8.50 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and arrive at Secunderabad at 8.35 am the next day.
The train will run via Hindupur, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur and Begumpeta and reach Secunderabad.
The Railways said none of these services, which were promised in the rail budget by Lalu Prasad Yadav, have started so far.
Increase in frequency
The Yeshwantpur-Cannanore Weekly Express will become a tri-weekly train with effect from Sunday. The train will run from Yeshwantpur on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from July 2 from Yeshwantpur. On its return journey, the train from Cannanore will start from there on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The Patna-Bangalore City Sangamitra Bi-Weekly Express will run six days a week and will be a superfast train. The train will leave from Bangalore on all days except Friday. The train timings have been revised and it will now leave at 9 am instead of 6.45 am.
On its return, the Patna-Bangalore City Express will run from Patna on all days except Tuesday.
The Bangalore City-Kochuveli Express, which used to be a weekly train will now run three times a week.
The train will leave from Bangalore on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from the reverse direction — Kochuveli on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Date of increase in frequency and revised timings will be available in a few days. Until the new timings are adopted the old timings will be followed.
The Yeshwantpur-Hatia Weekly Express will become a bi-weekly train. The Yeshwantpur-Hatia Express will start from Yeshwantpur on Wednesdays and Fridays and in the reverse direction, the train will start from Hatia on Tuesdays, and Sundays.
Extension of service
The Yeshwantpur-Chennai weekly special has been extended till September 28, 2007.
The service of the Chennai-Yeshwantpur weekly special has been extended till September 29, 2007.
The Hubli-Yeshwantpur Weekly special train has been extended till September 25, 2007.
The train Kochuveli-Yeshwantpur-Hubli Weekly Special has been extended till September 27, 2007.
The Hubli-Bangalore City-Hubli Tri-Weekly Special has been extended till September 28, 2007.
The service of Bangalore City-Hubli Tri-Weekly special has been extended till September 29, 2007.
The service of Mysore-Bangalore City Daily Special has been extended to December 31, 2007.
Extension of trains
The Ajmer-Bangalore City Bi-Weekly Express will be extended upto Mysore.
Diversion of trains
The Yeshwantpur-Bilaspur Weekly Express will be diverted to run via Sitafalmandi, Mallkajgiri and Moula Ali instead of touching Secunderabad. The diversion will come into effect shortly.
The Coimbatore-Bangalore City Lokmanya Tilak Kurla Express will be diverted to run via Sri Satya Sai Prashanti Nilayam from Sunday.
