‘Flyover has govt support’

Bangalore: The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has said that it is getting good support from the state government to realise the trumpet flyover — the entry point from Bellary Road (NH-7) to the under-construction airport.
In response to a report in The Times of India dated July 13, that quoted Albert Brunner, BIAL CEO, as saying: “NHAI and the Karnataka government had disowned responsibility to complete the flyover,’’ Brunner said on Friday: “The trumpet interchange, which will connect NH7 to the airport approach road, was to be built by NHAI but has now been taken into BIAL’s scope of work. Most of it will be ready for the airport’s opening date in April, 2008.’’ BIAL said, as per its agreement, the government will acquire the land for the interchange, while BIAL funds the construction on a build-own-transfer (BOT) basis.
