Palike plans playground for Pottery Town

BANGALORE: On Tuesday, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner K Jairaj ordered the joint commissioner of east zone to take up development of playground at Pottery Town after removing encroachments.
He inspected the ground and asked the officials to lay a basketball court at a cost of Rs 3.36 crore.
Jairaj asked the officials to seek police assistance in clearing the encroachments and to build a compound wall at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
EWS RECONSTRUCTION: The Palike would reconstruct the quarters for economically weaker section (EWS) in Eijipura. The residents would be shifted to transit camps by next month and work would begin soon, said a Palike release.
The tenements were declared unsafe three years ago. The work would be taken up under the Centre’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
