As the metro rail project gathers steam, the monorail project is also hotting up, with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) ready to announce consultants to advice the government on implementation of monorail network for the City.
The BMRC that received bids from five consortia in January has shortlisted three. Says V Madhu, managing director, BMRC, “The final bidder will be announced this month. They would advise us on implementation of best available form of mono-rail to supplement the 38 km metro rail network. General consultants to oversee the ongoing metro work would also be announced later this month”.
Though the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation announced its rehabilitation packages as per the KIADB Act, 1966 last year, its is awaiting a final notification to be issued by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board, that is expected to issue it around June 15, say BMRC sources.
“The PSS Thomas Committee that was constituted to determine a fair market value for land losers has submitted its report, while the PWD looking into valuation of market value of residential and commercial properties through the consent award route has done so. This would have to be approved by the BMRC board after which award of compensation would be done,” they said.
BMRC sources also added that an ombudsman committee would be constituted after the board approves the Thomas Committee report to hear objections from land losers.
