Is Bangalore now a slum city?

Is Bangalore now a slum city?

Why the delay in CDP, asks HC

Bangalore: The government seems to be making Bangalore a slum city rather than a developed city, the high court observed on Thursday.
Taking exception to the inordinate delay in approving the 2015 Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) of Bangalore, the court asked the government to indicate by Friday the time frame regarding approval of the plan.
Hearing a petition filed by Nirman Shelters, Justice Rammohan Reddy directed the authorities to fix the time frame without further delay.
“The government wants to make Bangalore a slum city rather than a developed city. There are more IAS officers now, they are called secretaries, under secretaries, upper secretaries, middle secretaries, principal secretary or principle-less secretary. How will investments come to Bangalore if we keep such development issues pending? Our officials prepare development plans and undertake trips to Singapore. We take loan from the World Bank for development and then drown all that money in the Arabian Sea. If the government doesn’t indicate a time frame by tomorrow, then this court would be forced to pass such an order that there would no such plans for the next decade,’’ the judge observed.
Meanwhile, under secretary in urban development (BDA) M S Premachandra, in a statement to the court, said the Masterplan 2015 was submitted to the cabinet for approval on June 4 and its decision is awaited.
