Bangalore: General Consultants will oversee A to Z of the Metro Rail project in Bangalore. From designing viaduct, future stations, signalling and communication system, rolling stocks (coaches) to every aspect of the project including traffic integration and development of properties, said BMRC managing director V Madhu said.
General Consultants (GC) signed the contract agreement with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) on Thursday for project management consultancy during the Metro Rail project implementation.
The Rs 212-crore deal was clinched with GC after a global tender was floated. GC is a consortium of RITES, PCI of Japan, PB Group of USA and SYSTRA of France, which have come under one umbrella to provide the consultancy service. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), which is funding the consultancy, has also approved the deal.
This is second venture of GC after Delhi Metro. The PB has worked extensively in Bangkok, Hong Kong and many cities in the US, PCI has successfully implemented the metro rail project in Japan. SYSTRA has been in the lead for rail projects in Europe and has earned reputation for the famed Paris Metro Rail.
The GC would offer 8,851 local and 561 foreign personnel for supervising the project. The consultants would give their advice in on all aspects of the commissioning of Metro. They will set up an office in the Bangalore Metro Office and the contract period is till December 2012.
