Elevated Highway to be ready by next July

BANGALORE: The Elevated Highway Project from Silk Board Junction to Electronics City Junction on Bangalore-Hosur section of NH7 will be ready by July next. Around 36 per cent work of the 10-km long 4-lane elevated highway has been completed which on completion is estimated to cost Rs 776 crore.
Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T R Balu, reviewed the ongoing project on Wednesday. With him was the Union Minister for Surface Transport K H Muniyappa.
They surveyed the various central government projects. Project Director of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Manoj Kumar said that the ground level improvement work is complete by 90 per cent. ββThe elevated highway from Rupena Agrahara to Electronics City is under construction. And the bridge deck work will start by July-end,ββ he said. This elevated highway will have highway traffic management system, video cameras, emergency call booths and standard lighting.
Balu said that once this elevated highway was complete, it would just take 8 minutes to cross this stretch. He inspected the ongoing works of assembling and launching of gantry, piling works and construction of underpasses by the box pushing technique. During the inspection, he stopped at Silk Board Junction, Singasandra, Electronics City and Attibele Yard. He instructed the contractor to improve safety arrangements.
The Minister expressed satisfaction at the progress of work and traffic management plan implemented at site during construction activities.
He also directed the contractor to speed up the progress of work to complete the project on schedule.
