Ulsoor lake gets a cleaning-up

Ulsoor lake gets a cleaning-up

The sorry state of the Citys Ulsoor lake, which was reported in the May 2 edition of Vijay Times (Ulsoor lakes never ending woes), seems to have caught the notice of BBMP officials and Lake Development authorities. At last, the officials concerned have decided to clean up the tank, which is littered with garbage and plastic.

When Vijay Times reporters visited the lake on Tuesday, BBMP workers could be seen removing the garbage and loading it into a waste-disposal tractor. When questioned, the workers said that they were instructed to clear the lake of floating garbage and water hyacinth. Even as they cleaned the tank, the surrounding area was engulfed in the foul smell of decomposed garbage. Be that as it may, this long-overdue step has brought much relief to residents of the area.
