BANGALORE: Even as Namma Metro works are getting on to the track, works for the Mono Rail have begun with identifying project consultants. The Mono Rail is also handled by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
Speaking about the developments on Mono Rail, managing director V Madhu said, “The technical bids for the Mono Rail have begun, three companies have been short-listed as project consultants. The mono rail will act as feeders to the Bangalore Metro Rail, reducing the travel time by making it a seamless travel integration for passengers.”
If the works are done on schedule, the Mono Rail project will go operational by the end of this year, added Madhu.
The entire stretch of Mono Rail is about 51 kms which has the capacity to ferry about 50,000 passengers per hour in one direction.
The Mono Rail project is expected to be completed along with the Bangalore Metro Rail project in about three years.

The second and third corridor will be from Bannerghatta National Park to Adugodi along Bannerghatta Road and from Tumkur Road to Bellary Road respectively.
