BMRDA plan full of errors

BMRDA plan full of errors ’ VIJAY TIMES NEWS

BANGALORE : BMRDAs Interim Master Plan (IMP) for the development of the Anekal, Nelamangala, Magadi and Kanakapura areas surrounding Bangalore City has come in for flak from developers The developers claim that under the plan many residential layouts have been marked for commercial development in some Local Planning Areas (LPAs), while in some others agricultural zones have been marked as residential layouts.

Terming the plan unscientific, Karnataka Land Developers Association president Dayandanda said on Wednesday that the association had found a large number of irregularities. "In the taluk plan for Anekal, the residential layouts are not provided with a buffer zone from the industrial areas placed next to them. Such issues will definitely lead to a neverending tussle between residents and industrialists in the future," he said. Association members further alleged that BMRDA has carried out the map drawings without looking at the data available on the LPAs.

Association general secretary R V Someswaran said the irregularities indicated that the authorities had bowed to pressure from various lobbies. "We will appeal to the Chief Minister and the Lok Ayukta to order an inquiry into the IMP and set things right," he said. Many proposed roads in the IMP would cut through villages to the detriment of the residents, he added.

Association members also expressed unhappiness over BMRDA officials not acceding to their request to extend the deadline for public objections to the IMP. The deadline is May 19 while the association wants it extended to June 10.
