BANGALORE: Residents of Puttenhalli area have no clue about whom to contact to solve their never-ending woes. The stink from the lake was the only problem to contend with till now, but now, overflowing manholes on Puttenhalli main road have made their lives worse.

A star class hotel, a Punjabi dhaba and four departmental stores are located on the same road along with residential complexes.

The road also has a dental college hostel and a business school. The road has been dug up for over six months to lay the water pipelines.

“We are not able to dispose garbage as no push carts or garbage vehicles can enter the road which is shut for over six months. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy promised us that the work would be completed in a month’s time during his visit to the area, but he seems to have forgotten,” said Uma Rajashekhar, a resident.

It can be recalled that eight months ago, Chief Minister had visited the area and the Puttenahalli lake.

“Autorickshaws refuse to ply on this road because of its bad condition. Only few two-wheelers venture during emergencies. It is also difficult to walk, especially for children and senior citizens,” she said. “Sending children to schools and getting them back is a major problem after the road was dug up for repair. Our children cannot be dropped in front of our homes. We have to pick them up from the stop,” said Rajashekhar, a shop owner. The residents have been running from pillar to post to contact the ‘right person’ who could listen to their grievances. “There is not a single civic agency which we have not contacted. Everybody is passing the buck and no one is coming to our rescue,” said Rajagopal S N.
