Hollywood may soon film in Bangalore!
If Kheny’s Film City Takes Shape
The Times of India

Bangalore: Don’t be surprised if you spot George Lucas shooting a film or British beauty Kate Winslet in town. For, NICE managing director Ashok Kheny is all set to make Bangalore a much-sought-after destination for film-makers across the globe.
For a person who has always been involved with civil engineering, constructing a film city of international standards comes as no surprise. “The entertainment industry was always close to my heart, but the idea of establishing a film city evolved recently,” Kheny said. The yetto-be-named film city, to be built near Sompura-Clover Leaf junction on the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor, will host more than 20 studios (sound and stage) on the lines of Hollywood studios.
The sprawling,300-acre film city will have everything to please top production houses of the world like 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount, Columbia Pictures, United Artistes, Pinewood Studios etc, he maintained.
The state-of-the-art studios will be centrally air-conditioned and have computerised lighting systems besides a live editing table with latest film cameras like Dolbys, cranes and Jimmy Gibes. Each studio will house professional makeup and trial rooms to provide the user with ultimate comfort. The film city will also host television series and shows.
“Producers will be able to come to the studio with unedited tapes and walk out with the finished product. It will have special studios for shooting advertisements as Chroma key and blue-screen facility will be made available.
A separate studio for computer graphics and other technologies will also be in place,’’ Kheny outlined.
Giving a major boost to the Indian film industry and Kannada in particular, its promoters expect to create jobs for over 10,000 skilled and nonskilled people.
To meet the demand for qualified skilled technicians and actors, Kheny plans to set up a film institute and training centre in the film city.
There’s more in the offing — like star hotels in keeping with the comfort and professionalism media celebrities are accustomed to across the globe.
