Work on the Namma Metro project has been delayed yet again. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) that was supposed to commence construction of via-ducts during the first week of March has delayed the work, this time due to difficulties in arriving at the exact ratio of concrete mixture to be used for the project.
But, assuring that the project is on track, BMRC Managing Director V Madhu confidently says, "With the shifting of electrical cables, re-laying of BWSSB pipelines and geotechnical surveys in completion stage, all public services which were seen as impediments to the construction works have almost been cleared. Minor problems like the right concrete mixture required for the project are being sorted out. The pillars have to bear the weight of the coaches weighing tons. So, the contractor has sought time up to March 14. Construction activity, including excavation of land, will definitely begin March end."
