Metro Rail works may start on Feb 3

The State government is planning to give a special gift to Bangaloreans on its completing one year in office on February 3.

With Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) Board giving the go-ahead for civil works on Friday, the government has directed project contractor Nava Yuga Construction Private Limited to try and start work on February 3 to coincide with the government’s one-year celebrations.

The civil works on ‘Reach 1’, the 7-km stretch between Kanteerava Stadium and Byappanahalli - include construction of pillars and viaducts at a cost of Rs 130 crore. It will be completed in 27 months, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy told reporters here on Saturday.

Later, BMRC Managing Director V Madhu said the tender process is on for the construction of seven stations and the work is likely to be taken up in July.
