A quieter Habba in 2006?
A quieter Habba in 2006?

It’s a much quieter Bengalooru Habba - 2006 this year. The street and outdoor activities seem less, and this is also the contributing factor for the Habba appearing a little less charming.
With venues like Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat and St George’s Square, which are hosting handicrafts from various parts of the country, closing by 7.30 pm, Bangaloreans either have an option to stay home, or make it to one of the auditoria, where all the activity is happening.
Of the major highlights of Monday evening were spectacular performances by two renowned artistes, both crowd pullers in their own respect. While danseuse Shobana enthralled the crowds with grace and beauty, with many pieces from the traditional Bharatanatyam, flautist Pravin Godkhindi mesmerised the music enthusiasts by playing ragas from Marwa and Pahadi dhun — all of which was partaken by the audience, with a hunger for more.
Shobana could not have looked or performed any better as even novices who know nothing about the dance form were enamoured by beauty in its entirety. Apart from performances to numbers from A R Rahman (Vande Mataram) and Russian artiste Bach, her performance with some of her students added to the charm of the evening.
