Jairaj inspects Jayanagar shopping complex

BANGALORE: Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Commissioner K Jairaj inspected civic works in South Zone on Tuesday.

He visited Jayanagar shopping complex and asked the officials to prepare a plan for renovation. Jairaj also took stock of Puttanna Kanagal theatre in the complex and instructed officials to take measures to develop a scheme to redevelop it under a joint a venture.

He said that the JV would be taken up on a design, build, operate and transfer (DeBOT) basis. The JV would provide a multiplex along with parking facility in basement, first and second levels.

The Commissioner also mooted redevelopment of Canara Bank building near Janatha Bazar. He said that two more storeys would be added, so that BMP could earn Rs 2.5 crore per year in non-tax revenues.

Assistant revenue officer of Hombegowdanagar was not present in his office even by 11.30 am, and Jairaj served him transfer orders on the spot.

BMP Joint Commissioner (South) Yashwanth, DCF Krishna Udupudi, techincal consultant R Jayaprasad and chief engineer Devraj were present.
