Woes on Sarjapur Road never end: residents

Woes on Sarjapur Road never end: residents
The Times of India

Bangalore: Sarjapur Road, one of the prime stretches connecting Hosur, is in a bad shape in several places. The condition of 6-km stretch of Link Road known as New Mico Road, connecting Sarjapur Road to House Road via central jail, is in a pathetic state. This is the only road used by residents, students and people of Kasavanahalli village to reach the main Sarjapur Road.
The width of the road varies from 8 ft to 20 ft which has been narrowed down to seven feet in most of the places.
Apart from heavy vehicles, the road also takes the heavy load of construction vehicles like readymix concrete trucks and earth movers, say residents who are the victims of neglect.
According to a resident Shiva Chandrashekaran, the road has been like this for more than five years. For the pedestrians, this road is a nightmare as walkers are encountered by mounds, potholes and pits throughout the stretch.
“During rain, words will not suffice to describe the condition. The mud-filled road becomes slushy in several places with rocks and stones protruding. This damages number of vehicles,’’ Chandrashekaran pointed out.
The other side of the ring road — near Jayadeva Hospital flyover — is equally bad.
Though the flyover has been opened, traffic problems does not seem to end. Says Shivaraj Murthy, a resident: “Ring Road needs some attention, similar to what they are doing with 29th Main in BTM II Stage. The sidewalks are in a terrible shape. Though the flyover work has been completed, the debris has not been removed. The area needs a total facelift.’’
