BANGALORE: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will be inspecting the site on CMH Road along which the Metro rail project is stipulated to come up. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director V Madhu said that the CM would visit the site at 7 am on October 25.

The BMRCL chief on Monday briefed the CM on the project. Residents along the CMH Road are up in arms against BMRCL to get the proposed alignment changed as it would lead to the eviction of several business establishments and residential houses.

BJP leader and ex-MLA Premila Nesargi, who is leading the protest along with the CMH Traders’ Association, said that the entire purpose of the CM’s visit would be lost if he came early in the morning.

‘‘We are demanding that the alignment be changed to Old Madras Road because of the heavy flow of traffic. But how can the CM see the traffic or know how people will be affected if he comes early? Residents want to tell him their problems and present a memorandum. Hence, we want him to come later in the day,’’ she said.

The Chief Minister will also inspect the proposed metro rail site on Mahakavi Kuvempu Road where residents are protesting against the alignment in a few days, said V Madhu.

Meanwhile, the BMRCL has already started the work of utility shifting for the first phase of the 7-km project from Cricket stadium on Cubbon Road to Byappanhalli.

However, the government agency is waiting for the clearance from the CM to take up the work on CMH Road, which is also part of the first phase.
