Metro: CM to inspect soon

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has said he will conduct a spot inspection of CMH Road, 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar and Mahakavi Kuvempu Road within a week, to resolve the differences between the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation and Indiranagar residents over the Metro alignment issue. The Government had, over a month ago, announced its decision to adhere to the proposed metro alignment after studying the recommendations of the Shivashankar Bhat Committee that was formed to look into the matter.

The Government’s decision had triggered a series of protests among residential and commercial property owners.

CMH Road Shops and Establishments Association members headed by lawyer Pramila Nesargi and BMRC represented by BMRC Managing Director V Madhu met the CM on Thursday afternoon to discuss the issue.

While Nesargi pointed out that several would lose their livelihood on account of the Metro, Mr Madhu maintained that the Metro must cut across thickly populated areas, and therefore Old Madras Road cannot be a feasible alignment.
