Sial stresses the importance of brisk walking for 45 minutes every day

Bangalore: The Walkathon organised by Wockhardt Hospitals to mark World Heart Day from its Bannerghatta Road premises here on Sunday, attracted more than 2,500 participants from all walks of life and age profiles.

The event, which was also a symbolic beginning to Wockhardt's Mission HEARTNET, was flagged off by B.S. Sial, Director General and Inspector General of Police.

Mr. Sial appreciated the "overwhelming" response by the city of Bangalore to the cause of prevention of heart disease and stressed the importance of brisk walking for about 45 minutes every day.

`Be evangelists'

Vishal Bali, chief executive officer, Wockhardt Hospitals, urged the participating youth to be "evangelists" of prevention and commended them for taking the first step to spread the message of prevention to the community by participating in the Walkathon.

A group of 18 young children on roller skates led the Walkathon.
