The Times of India

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved the transfer of 3 acres and 7 guntas (138,303 sq ft) of Air Force land at Air Force Station, Jalahalli, to the railways for construction of Salem-Yeshwantpur section bypass in Bangalore.
The land transfer was made at an estimated cost of Rs 5.53 crore, a spokesperson said. The Cabinet decision will ensure faster clearance of train services and avoid reversal of engines on the bypass line at Yeshwantpur, which links the Yeshwantpur-Tumkur line along with Yeshwantpur-Yelahanka/Yeshwantpur-Baiyappanahalli-Salem lines.
The financial implication in this land transfer will be Rs 983 crore and will be borne by the railway ministry.
