Commuters face hardship in the ‘no entry’ zone!

BANGALORE: Take a ride down the Tannery road in the City and you will experience the hardships public is facing along the entire stretch every day.

Thanks to the Traffic Police’s failure to stop four wheelers from entering into the ‘no entry’ zone and shop owners for parking their vehicles on footpath and road, people find it very difficult to even walk on that road.

“Police do not keep check on trucks and cars which are prohibited to pass through Ambedkar Circle which as it is a no entry zone, except for BMTC buses. That apart, they allow shop owners and auto drives to park their vehicles in no-parking zone. All these have resulted in chaos. Pedestrians, school children have no place even to walk down the road,” said Ravi, a resident of the area.

The authorities have provided an alternative road for three and four wheelers. But very few vehicles take that route, while most of the vehicles pass through Tannery road. Police deliberately neglect them, complains a pedestrian.

“This road has more than four no-parking boards. But you will find vehicles parking next to the board. Police should ensure this should be topped,” he added.

When contacted, Frazer Town traffic police said the ‘Tiger’ mobile squad which tow vehicles is under repair and once it was ready all the vehicles parked in no-parking zone will be lifted.
