The helmet rule for two-wheeler riders will be enforced from Sept 1, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said here on Tuesday. A notification would soon be issued. However, pillion riders have got a breather as they have been exempted.

The helmet issue had become a hot topic for discussions as several members of the Opposition had opposed it and the government had put off its implementation several times since July 31.
