Bangalore: The Legal Metrology Department will conduct verification of autorickshaw meters from July 24 to July 28 in the city, according to a press release from the department.

The verification drive comes after the department received several complaints from the public about autorickshaw meters not being recalibrated in accordance with the recent fare increase recommended by the Bangalore District Regional Transport Authority.

The Legal Metrology Department undertakes verification of autorickshaws and taxi fare meters, along with the State Transport Authority.

Even though the deadline set by the authority had passed, only 50,270 autorickshaws of the 75,480 have had their meters recalibrated, according to the press release.

Seven special teams have been formed under the leadership of Assistant Controllers of the department.

These teams will check for recalibration along with the accuracy of fare in autorickshaw meters throughout the city, the release has said.

People can register their complaints on Ph: 22207750, 22284917 or through e-mail: acat@kslmd.com/clm@kslnd.com or personally report to the department office.
