Airport security beefed

Airport security beefed

Bangalore: Security at the City airport has been beefed up by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) which has left no stone unturned and tightened security cover.

Senior CISF Officers manning airport security told Vijay Times that a number of security measures have been implemented to avoid untoward incidents. “As a precautionary measure, a joint decision was taken by CISF and Airports Authority of India to impose restrictions on entry of visitors into arrival and departure areas of the terminal. No visitor was allowed to enter these areas from 7 pm on Tuesday to 12 noon on Wednesday,” said a CISF Officer.

Other measures in place at the airport include increased patrolling, surveillance and random checking both in and outside the airport by the CISF and City police. Airport sources also said anti-sabotage check and anti-hijack measures were also increased since Tuesday evening.

On right track...

In India, the Air Traffic Control can track movement of any aircraft deviating from its stipulated flight path at any given time and alert nearest Air Force units. The Monopole Secondary Surveillance Radar, an equipment that can detect the precise height of the aircraft at any particular time to the ATC, was switched off in the US when terror struck the WTC on Sept 11, 2001. But in India, we can predict 90 per cent of such deviations.”

While travelling to Ahmedabad from Bangalore a day after the Mumbai Warfare (so I would call it), I was surprised to see that there is no extra security measures implemented. At the entry point it's only the ID that is seen. Goofing up with IDs I feel is not a big deal in today's world of utmost nuisance. Why is the security check (that is done before boarding) not done at the entry point to the airport.....???? The same was seen in the Mumbai airport too.....This is really strange!!!!!!
