HE Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) on Thursday announced that it proposed to construct flyovers over the MM Road at Cox Town, Coles Park Road and the Indian Express Road.

Speaking after inaugurating new classrooms at a Corporation high school and distributing title deeds, electoral identity cards, water meters, and asbestos sheets to the residents of Ward No:85 at a programme organised by the BMP, Mayor Mumtaz Begum said, "North Bangalore has witnessed infrastructure development whereas South Bangalore has been deprived of such major developments." "Therefore, we have directed corporators of the South division to speed up development works in their respective wards. In order to decongest traffic on these three roads, we have planned to construct flyovers," she said.

"The BMP has taken up major works in the City to resolve both civic and infrastructural issues." "We may not have successfully completed all the tasks. But, we definitely have completed a majority of them," she claimed.

"It is our responsibility to provide all the basic amenities to the public and we will surely work towards this," she added.

The Mayor further added that apart from working for the betterment of SC/STs, they were also concentrating on helping the economically weaker sections. Speaking on the occasion, former minister Ramalinga Reddy said Bangalore had witnessed a huge change in infrastructure development during the last five years when the Congress was in power.

"Most of the major works were taken up during the time of S M Krishnas government," he claimed.
