Heavy rains lashed the city on Friday for the second day after a dry spell. A rainfall of 9.9 mm was recorded at 8.30 am on Friday, while 0.6 mm rainfall during the day (8.30 am to 5.30 pm) turned into heavy dowpour in the late evening.

Major flooding was witnessed on arterial roads like Commercial street, Millers road junction and Kamraj road, where the roads were submerged in knee-deep waters. Two trees on Cubbon Road and KR Road collapsed, but no casualty was reported.

The Bangalore Electricty Supply Company (Bescom) had to resort to loadshedding in some parts of the city including RT Nagar, Sultanpalya and surrounding areas for an hour. While, snapping of wires resulted in a blackout at Ulsoor and LR Bande, which was not

restored till late in the night.
