Thought for food

Thought for food

While there were villagers from Kanakapura, Channapatna, Ramanagara, Chamarajanagara and Mandya, there were also villagers from diametrically opposite taluk — Devanahalli. Were they losing land on Mysore Road? “We had been promised food — breakfast and lunch. Our leaders asked us to come. So we came.” The villagers from Devanahalli had come in four vehicles.

Furious placards
Most buses and trucks that NICE had used to ferry villagers had huge placards with messages like “Bangalore and Mysore becomes too fast and too furious by the expressway, the corridor is opening for you.’’

Bangalore & Mysore
A pair of twins who had participated in the inaugural celebrations were given T-shirts named “Bangalore’’ and “Mysore’’ by the NICE people. See what’s in a name!

Greens see red
Hours after the BMIC peripheral road was opened to public, pro-environment ‘Environment support group’ accused the NICE company of having violated environment clearance granted by the Union ministry of environment and forests.
Group’s chairman Leo Saldana presenting a memorandum to chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday alleged that hydrology features in the BMIC region had changed after five lakes in Hemmigepura, Kammanahalli, Doddathur, Gottigere and Komaghatta were taken up for the project.
