Kheny fires volleys at HDK government

Kheny fires volleys at HDK government
The Times of India

Bangalore: The war of words between chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and NICE managing director Ashok Kheny shows no signs of abating. If Kumaraswamy spoke out against the project on Thursday, it was Kheny’s turn to counter on Friday:

“We had hired 250 KSRTC buses to ferry displaced villagers to the inaugural. But, this morning, the government gave orders cancelling these. Next time, I will arrange for private buses to ferry the people affected by this project.

“I want to hold a discussion with Kumaraswamy and explain project benefits to him. I hope he does not say I am trying to buy him.

“The government stand is confusion. They have magically agreed to comply with the Supreme Court judgment and then send a notice saying the road should not be opened.

“In December, 2004, the state government discovered that we had “excess’’ land. I have won 330 court cases on the issue. I have been given 6,757 acres of total land up to Mysore, out of 20,193. How can this be excess?
“Some people say Deve Gowda and his family are my partners. Others say S M Krishna and his friends are. There is no partnership with anyone.

“For 11 years, I have not sold one inch of land. I must be the world’s worst real estate developer.
“They give land in thousands of acres to Keralites, Tamils, Telugus, North Indians which are sold as real estate. No one says anything. I am the only Kannadiga doing a major project and I get all the hurdles.”
