In a new development, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) has sent a 25-page memorandum to the Chief Minister, Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy, pressing him to release within a week the remaining land and to disburse landowners' compensation from its deposit.
The communication dated June 12 urges the Chief Minister to ensure that the April 20 verdict of the Supreme Court is fully honoured and allow the project to progress.
Neither the apex court verdict in favour of the project nor the May 2005 directions of the High Court to the same effect are being implemented in letter and spirit in spite of 10 reminders between April 21 and June 6, the letter said.
Failing this action in a week, "(we) would be left with no alternative but to take appropriate steps as may be available to us in law," it added.
According to NICE, it has deposited Rs 100.48 crore with the Government towards compensation for landowners in the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMICP).
The remaining land in question includes 2,568 acres near Bangalore, of which NICE said the Government has handed over only 1,035 acres.
It also sought the notification of Section 28 (4) for 49 acres, and 2,317 acres and 12.5 gunthas of land, which have been vetted by the Industries and the Public Works Departments.
Also, the empowered committee meeting should be convened as per the verdict, it added.
